DANITA JONES, a Chicago native, born and raised on the Westside of Chicago, graduated from Columbia College of Chicago with a BA in television writing and producing. Shortly after graduating she was hired at WGN-TV, under legend Merri Dee who became her mentor. She worked with Ms. Dee writing and producing public service announcements.

Always desiring to write for television and film, Danita made the move to Los Angeles in 1995 and worked her way up from production assistant to writer’s assistant at Carsey-Werner. After her time at Carsey-Werner she moved on to “Sabrina, The Teenage Witch” as a writer’s assistant and there she received her first break as a writer and wrote episodes. Danita became a member of the WGA in 1998. A year after leaving Sabrina, she received the call of her life, she was hired as a staff writer on “Frasier” in 2002. Here a little black girl from the Westside of Chicago, known as one of the toughest neighborhoods in Chicago, writing on “Frasier”. It was more than a dream come true.
After her time at “Frasier” she ventured into feature films, writing a film for State Street Productions, “Fish Market”. Doing punch up on “Food Fight,” a film for Threshold/Lions Gate, starring Hilary Duff. Feature films turned out to not be as lucrative as she had hoped and with sitcom work dwindling because of Reality TV, Danita went where the industry went, Reality TV.
She started from the ground up, again, by being a logger, swiftly moving to Associate Story Producer for “Surreal Life Fame Games,” and “My Fair Brady,” Story Producer for “Celebrity Rehab,” “Tori and Dean: Sweet Home Hollywood” and “Redemption Song.”
In the midst of the reality years, Danita partnered with actor/comedian Yul “Spencer” and developed the company Shoshin Entertainment. They have films in development and are co-hosting their weekly podcast, “Me and Ms. Jones,” which can be found on their website, NBNToday.com (a funny source for news) and Itunes. They are currently in preproduction for “Spencer’s” one man show, “One Show at a Time: Spencer Interrupted,” opening June of 2009 in Hollywood, CA.
Danita Jones is repped by Paradigm Agency.
