…why Obama chose not to attach himself to the Clintons the way some of us thought he should’ve.
The way a lot of people saw it was… how come Obama don’t like chicken like they like chicken? Do you like chicken, brotha’? Black folks couldn’t tell right a way. Obama was throwing brothas off with his name and shit. Personally, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing at first even with my own eyes and all the optimism I portray every day. I still couldn’t believe that this America was ready to accept this much change this quickly. Admittedly, all I saw was color at first just like you, a black man for President are you out your fucking minds? And now I believe Obama knew blacks would think that and he didn’t want us thinking that it was so impossible. So he ran as a man for President and earned all kinds of different people support that way.
I myself get along with most people and I like that. That I have the ability to learn and love all kinds of people. I just never met anyone else much like me except for a lot of my friends. They also have that ability and as I think about it — it may be why we’re all friends and love each other.
This kind of change Barack has been speaking on has been so desperately needed for decades. I’m so glad now is the time and we are all in it together. I see now that Obama wasn’t running for President as a black man for black people but wanted to run for ALL people. That way he could include who he was and who many of us are “Americans”.
That’s why he couldn’t get that close to you Bill, baby! Because then every one would’ve said it was because he was black and that he had the last black president’s wife as a V.P. It’s because he’s black, and Bill helped him get the support of the black community and that’s why he’s President. You could hear the nay sayers now. (feel me?) Bill still supported Obama by taking the high road and rocking the convention with his speech and knowledge and love for this country. Bill put the people first and his own goals second. Making his first goal to elect Obama. Saying, shit must change and change now. Okay, I said the shit thing but he was all about the change thing. And Hillary slammed it! On the night she spoke, the Clintons made it clear if Obama loses it won’t be because of them.
It will be because of all of those who failed to vote for Obama and who failed to see the convention and how this party (Democrats, all of them) constructed one of the smoothest reunions of hope, peace and prosperity for every American.
It was truly off the chains. I’m just sorry I’m so bogged down under the Republicans plans to break me. I couldn’t make it to Denver for the convention. As I watched the DNC, I couldn’t conceive anyone else not being touched by this gathering of obviously concerned Americans, including John McCain and other Republicans. I began to imagine we turn on the tv and hear on CNN or MSNBC that John McCain called Obama tonight and conceded to him. Wouldn’t that just blow your mind, too? McCain blurts out some shit like, I can’t take it any more this guy is too good. Let ‘em have it. McCain already put out a commercial congratulating Obama. A first indeed. There will be lots of first with Obama in office.
Oh, Johnny McCain gots to be a little afraid that he will not be filling an entire football field full Americans screaming and chanting and wanting him to be President. I just don’t think that will happen.
We will soon see what will happen next week at the Republican convention. It?s in Minnesota where it?s cold. Should match the heart of our current President and his GOP.
